Client-Side Technologies
-
quirksmode.org: Some very well-executed and well-explained research in JavaScript, CSS, and browser discrepancies related thereto.
-
alistapart.com: A great site with tons of thoughtful articles about semantic markup, CSS, JavaScript, and other client-side technologies.
-
Packer: An online tool that compresses JavaScript code by removing comments and whitespace and shortening identifiers. (It seems to be pretty good, but I have had some problems with it. If you know of a better JavaScript compressor, please let me know.)

Design
-
Silk Icons: An excellent set of over 700 icons in PNG format, with alpha transparency. Very useful for web sites and application interfaces.
-
Kuler: An open-source library of user-submitted color schemes, hosted by Adobe. An excellent resource.
-
SitePro Central Colour Scheme Chooser: A useful tool for generating color schemes. Plug in a base color, select the type of scheme you'd like (monochromatic, triadic, etc.), and adjust a few parameters, and it produces a set of coordinated colors.
